Dear Bob Filner,

My name is Bhargav Munukutla. I am in 6th grade and I go to High Tech Middle Media Arts. I am 12 years old and my parents support you and appreciate what you have done for Chula Vista. I am writing this letter because I would like to propose a legislation that consist of the using renewable energy sources such as hydropower or Solar energy. Using renewable energy is better than what we are using now because renewable energy does not pollute the air, and you can use it over and over again and it won't run out. I would like to thank you for spending months in the southern jail in the Cival Rights moment. I would also like to thank you for helping us keep our are clean by introducing the fair air act in 2004. A major impact renewable energy will have on our world is, it will reduce the green house affect. This is what the environmentalists are looking for. Another one good side to using renewable energy is that we won't have to worry about shipments of oil from the Middle East. Susan Davis, another representative, introduced a bill that claims" We need to lower our emmisions by 80% by 2050". This is a good bill but we dont have that kind of time. Your talking about 42 years. Scientist are saying by 2050, most of our ice caps will have already melted, and there is going to be major problems.
Now you might be thinking that if we get rid of all the non-renewable sources we will lose many of our jobs for the time being. For the long term period we will be creating new jobs. We will need people to build the facilities. We will need people to run the facilities. We will need employes at the facilities and that is a lot of people working. The renewable energy sources i have in mind are hydropower, biomass, wind, solar, and geothermal. These are the sources that i would like to replace the fossil fuels that we are using now.
I would now like to direct you to a renewable energy source called Solar Energy. Solar energy comes from the sun. As long as the sun is shining this renewable energy source will be available. There is a problem though. The solar panels needed to create electricity are extremely expensive. Alternative.com is selling a 190 watt solar panels for $906.39. The listed price is $1275. These are extremely expensive. I would like to make a bill that reduces the price for solar panels and in return, the company gets a rebate for every solar panel they buy. The rebate is that they get 25% of the money that they paid for it. Solar energy is a reliable energy sources and i think that it will be a great hit.
I would like to thank you for reading my paper. I hope that i have convinced to help use more renewable energy.

Great overall Bhargav. Though there are some things you could improve on. I don't think it's a good idea to tell him the "cons" of using renewable energy. We're trying to convince him. Here are some questions that could expand your writing

1. Has he worked on some bills on renewable energy? If so, thank him for what he's done.

2. Are you proposing new legislation? or are you suggesting it?
